LIONS CLUB RURAL RETREAT VA

Lions Clubs International is the largest service club organization in the world, with more than 1.4 million members in 48,000 clubs serving 200 countries and geographic areas worldwide. Since our founding in 1917, we have been proving that where there’s a need, there’s a Lion.

Our motto is “We Serve” and Lions put it into action every day. We’re caring men and women who come together to be a difference in our communities. We believe we can do so much more together than we can alone.

Lions around the world are rallying around the five global causes of Childhood Cancer, the Environment, Hunger, Vision, and our new global focus, Diabetes. We have set a goal of serving 200 million people a year through these causes and other humanitarian initiatives.

The Lions Club Rural Retreat Virginia was founded on September 23, 1941. For over 80 years the Lions Club has provided Community Services and Fellowship throughout Southwest Virginia, the United States, and Internationally.

In October 2017, the Lions Club Rural Retreat Virginia started the International Personal Portable Solar Lights Project when it received Donations from the Lions Clubs throughout the United States to purchase and distribute these Personal Portable Solar Lights to individuals in Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria through the Lions Clubs in Puerto Rico.

Since 2017, the Lions Club Rural Retreat Virginia has distributed Personal Portable Solar Lights through Lions Clubs and Individuals in the Bahamas, Mexico, Pakistan, and Puerto Rico, and in the United States through Lions Clubs and Individuals in the states of Alabama, California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Kansas, Louisiana, Minnesota, Nevada, New York, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia.
